Dog sitting and the forest

Well the last week I have been dog/cat/house sitting for one of my teachers from last semester, and let me tell you, I miss having big dogs around me, but I really believe that I am a cat person. My teacher has two labs mixed with 1) border collie and 2) wiemaraner, along with 2 adorable cats! Our daily routines consists of the wiemaraner waking me up at 6am and gathering them up in my car driving to the forest, where they love to run! And what a lovely place this is to go for a walk! Perfect for the dogs, everyone who goes to this area takes the leashes off of the dogs and they run like hell all over the place. This place is beautiful! Its called the Hastings Trailway, and let me tell you, gorgeous! We walked through along the trail, which the dogs knew better than I could ever learn, and the wiemaraner always managed to find its way into the mud - always! By the end of our adventures together in this forest I counted 7 mosquito bites, and I know need to scrub the inside of my car (its covered in mud), but it was worth every minute to hang out with these dogs. I really have a lot of fun walking dogs and playing with them, but I need to be in the mood to deal with them at home. I realized that I dont like to be licked, or them bouncing on me at all! That's why I definitely believe that I am a cat person, if only I could figure out how to take cats on walks in the forest my life would be complete! ha! But anyways...During my week of house sitting, cat and dog sitting I had so much fun! Thunderstorms at night, and the dogs were there to protect me if need be, the border collie seemed to be very protective, never leaving my side!
And interestingly when we went walking in the forest, the border collie would always stay very close to me, then once the border collie got hurt (she has a bum right foot, which I think she strained, and is now limping :( ) and I took the wiemaraner out to the forest then she would stay really close to me too, instead of running amok like she usually does. These dogs are super sweet, and protective! When my teacher was showing me around their house and introducing me to their pets, she mentioned how shy the cats were, but by the 2nd night there the shyiest of the cats came up to me purring! :D then as the week progressed I became friends with their cats too, and goodness, they are sweet kitties. I think Mattie was a little jealous that when I came home I smelled like other cats, uh-oh (I'm not cheating on Mattie I swear!)

But that was my adventures in dog sitting, and I had to clean up diarrhea, and mud but you know what its okay, because those dogs are awesome! And with animals they can't tell you when they dont feel good, and they cant tell you when they are in pain, so it was definitely a pleasure to hang out with these amazing pets!

oh and Blake will be here in 5 1/2 days !!
