Spring Break!

Well spring break has come and gone, but holy crap it was a great break!

For starters our spring break was 2 weeks! ha take that those that have only 1 week off, cause I had 2 :D
The first week I spent doing homework....sigh....and it was hard to stay on track when I knew that in a week I was going to be in california with Blake! The week went by relatively fast, I moved in my friend Megan, she now lives in the second room on the third floor with me. Then reading, I read both my (what I thought at the time) 2 books for the week.  The first book took me forever to read, thick, theoretical, long, dull...but interesting, called Telling the Truth About History, took me 3 days to read. The second was a little more interesting, called Cannery Women, Cannery Lives, which was about Mexican women immigrants who worked in canneries and factories during the 20's and 30's. Easy read, I finished that one in a day. The next day I wrote my papers and watched a movie for another class.  I wasnt going to read the book for my gender and nationalism class because I thought the class was cancelled, but I started anyways...I could not concentrate at that point! It was so frustrating, but I think I knew that in 2 days I would be with my Blake, so thats all I could think about. And that was fine, cause at the time I thought I had 3 weeks to read that book. Well, now, I have to read it in two days, cause class was not cancelled this week and we are discussing it on Friday! As Dan (or Homer for that matter) would say, "Doh!" But thats okay, I think this book will be interesting, its called States and Strangers and its all about the multivariate ways a refugee is affected by their status as refugee in the state, as well as internationally. so we shall see how far I get on that one...

Week 2 was amazing!
A whirl wind week with family, friends, soon to be in-laws! (freaking weird!) and lots of Blake. :D
I got to spend tons of time with my two best friends which was amazing. Dina came out to dinner Monday night at Bodhi Tree, which I might add is terrific asian vegan food! (even my brother liked it)  http://www.happycow.net/reviews.php?id=3103 check it out! My brother,
sister, her boyfriend Andrew, our friend Brandon, and Dina were
all here to much on some really good food! Tuesday I went bowling with Shannon, Andrew, and Blake. I think every game I was either first, or second up until the end...
...then of course all the others would wipe me out and I would be in last! ugh! although I think the gutter ball is my favorite, or Shannon's granny shot...I cant decide! I almost forgot one of the more important events of my Tuesday in California: BSG. Thats right, Blake and I watch the final 2 hour episode of Battlestar Gallactica, and needless to say, we laughed, cried, and groaned...just ask him, cause he is DYING to talk about it. I am not lying, watch his face light up when you ask him about the final episode. :D
Wednesday I got to hang out with my mom and Lauren! It was so great! I went to lunch with my mom, and dinner with Lauren. I think we all got some really good quality time in together. I really miss hanging out with Lauren too, and I think she is now going to come out to NY again, and we can tare it up NYC style! cause remember bars dont close until 4am!

Thursday, Family Day!
This was the day that Blake and I introduced his parents to my
family! Talk about being nervous! I think this is the second time a boyfriends parents have met my parents. But I think Blake is a keeper, and his family is pretty cool too, so we thought it was time. And it was great! I think the both of us were a little nervous, me more so than him, and I think my wine drinking can contest to that (just ask Blake). But everyone loved everyone, and dinner was a success. I think my favorite part when everyone started talking about the kilts, and the wedding (wow...Its crazy to think that this is actually going to happen soon), that was a great feeling to share with the two emerging families. Makes me excited! (oh and blake too) :D

Friday we flew back to NY

I think the time we spent together was truly a vacation! We didnt really do anything! and it was great.
Friday = laundry, and a movie
Saturday was our big day. We celebrated our anniversary early with a trip to the planetarium and the natural history museum and space center, a fancy dinner on the upper wes
t side, and drinks with friends in midtown Manhattan. (yup Im cool, I can speak in NY lingo...)

Sunday = My first day back at work, and Blake came with me. We did homework, goofed around, and played chess. He is slowly teaching me how to play and I beat him last night! Then we had lunch with Kristin, hung out with Trish, and watched another movie (I think)

Monday = We went out to breakfast in town, very yummy food! Then we took a walk around one of the lakes by my house, laughed at the ducks and geese, took pictures, and hand a great time! We attempted to do homework, but failed and ended up watching the "Last of the Mohicans" one of my favs I might add. Then off to school. Thats right, Blake came to class with me last night. And I think he actually enjoyed it.  It was fun sitting in class with Blake. One of my peers told me how cute we were, and how we even rolled our eyes at the same time. hahaha adorable.

Tuesday = Again work, then we cleaned, packed, and did laundry. We took a nice cozy nap all twisted up together on the couch in my den, which felt wonderful. Then slowly got ready to leave. It hurts so bad to take him to the airport, to watch him leave. But I am glad that I was able to hold his hand till the last minute, to kiss him one more time before he got on that plane. I miss him so much already, and now his smell lingers in my room, I want him to come back.
But only 7 more weeks until this semester is over! I cannot believe it! I see the light at the end of the tunnel. And next year we will be planning on where we want to live, shipping my stuff back to california and saving money for furniture! Now that makes me excited!

ugh...but now I must return to homework. I must do something to keep me occupied, or else I may start to cry again...but alas, I will see him soon enough.

these ducks we named after us, they had ditched all the other ducks in the lake and resting under some trees together, quietly ignoring and judging the other ducks....we thought it fit perfectly!

Keep in touch everyone! I miss you all already too!

I love you all
